She's truly a Herald Angel!

I loved having our third baby. He gave me an excuse to sit down and relax for a while every time he needed to nurse.

This is a poem that I just love, that helps to put things in perspective:

Song for a Fifth Child
By Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth!
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread
Sew on a button and make up a bed.

Where is the Mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking!
Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue.
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby, loo.)

Dishes are waiting and bills are past due.
(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peek-a-boo.)
The shopping’s not done and there's nothing for stew,
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo.

But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby, loo.)

Oh, cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow,
But children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So settle down cobwebs, dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

I used to have a plaque on the wall with the last verse of this poem on it. It helped me many times to remember what was really important. And it's true, they do grow up so much faster than we realize. My third baby is now almost 28, but it seems like just last year I was rocking him to sleep!

Yeah, what is it about those yummy third babies? There's something magic about their cuteness.
